Carrying B-segment concept, Kia Niro made its first appearance at the 65thInternatioleAutomobil-Ausstellung in Frankfurt on 10 September. Kia brings small SUV model to Niro. With the length about 4.185 m, width 1.850 m, and height 1.558 m, Kia Niro is definitely a small urban car. The car is created at Kia’s Frankfurt Design Studio, so Niro will give “European taste” feel. Niro is named after type of stainless steel. This type is weightless type that used to build the roof and window’s border so it can lower the emission and operational cost.
Debuting in Frankfurt is Kia’s strategy to observe public response and potential demand so there are no decision about price, date release, and design for the production from Kia. Year 2015 will be the predicted year of releasing Kia Niro. The car will be equipped with the ground-breaking powertrain technology: 1.6 L turbo four-cylinder engine. This is Kia’s new 7-speed dual clutch transmission which give power for the front wheels. It will perform 160 horsepower. Rear wheels will obtain an additional power from electric motor that will send up to 45-horsepower. This extra power usually need when the car need addition grip.
For optional engine, Kia will provide a 1.0 L turbocharged petrol engine if Kia Niro make its mass-production. Kia Niro’s model is likely equal to Nissan Juke Nismo, so £12,000 will become minimal price that you spend. However, with a hybrid and advance technology concept, and also four-wheel drive, Kia Niro can reach £20,000.
Kia Niro is designed to bring strong and aggressive look in a small and compact body. The bumpy concept is proposed to get larger interior’s space. Kia Niro will be constructed in three-door crossover concept so Kia can struggle in the small SUV segment competition.
